The songs are stripped-down and direct, with Paul performing and recording every instrument himself (including fluglehorn and harmonium!), with the help of co-producer Nigel Godrich. The songs range from classic up-tempo rockers such as Fine Line and Promise To You Girl to darker ballads, and a touch of characteristic nostalgia in the form of Jenny Wren.
