Debussy's first Rhapsodie For Clarinet, and his Rhapsodie For Saxophone were both originally composed as chamber works with Piano accompaniments. Later the composer arranged both pieces for full Orchestra, and this unique volume contains the orchestral score and the Piano chamber arrangement of both works.
As a composer principally regarded as part of the French Impressionist movement, Debussy's music is characterised by some profound innovations in orchestration and the blending of instrumental tones, favouring the warmth of the woodwind over the previously dominant strings.
