A good book aimed at the beginner but the learning curve is quite steep. First part (Book 1) is ok but parts 2 and 3 (Books 2 and 3) seems a big step up. CD helps hugely. Good quality materials.

If you want to learn the guitar as an accompaniment instrument, this book is an excellent place to start. Simplified and easy to read music shows notes/chords and strumming patterns so you'll always know what you're doing with the left and right hands. I'm returning to the guitar after a long break and this book is just what I need to get back up to speed and indeed improve.

Great book for beginners as it also explains the strumming patterns while most books only give you the chords. The songs are a bit old. I have friends who don't know songs like "Catch the wind" and it's hard to learn an unknown song. The reason I give only 3 stars is for the CD. The guitar on the CD is very difficult to hear.

This book is very cheap in price, but excellent book for beginners. The teaching method is very good.

I think this book actually makes you a complete guitar player! You learn things like strumming styles, picking styles, hammerons, pulloffs etc. Perfect for beginners, but advanced players can also learn some new things with this book. It includes some nice, famous songs, though it only contains small parts of the songs and not the complete songs. I don't regret having bought it, though.
