Description

Song For Athene, for unaccompanied SATB choir, was commissioned by the BBC and written in memory of Athene Hariades, who died in March 1993. The text is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet and the Orthodox Funeral Service. The work was first performed at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales in September 1997 under the title Alleluia. May Flights of Angels Sing Thee to Thy Rest. Martin Neary conducted the Westminster Abbey Choir.

Rating Review
Customer Rating How do the basses manage to sing that note that continues through the whole piece? It's an amazing piece of music.

Customer Rating Absolutely Fantabulous! I've sung this one countless times, and it always gives me goosebumps to hear it again! One of those works that makes you believe when everything else seems to be going wrong.

Customer Rating Do it.....it is one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces I have ever sung. We did it for a 9/11/02 memorial concert in Queens, NY and it really set the mood and was one of the favorites of the congregation.
