This book is absolutely amazing. I'm really making headway with the help of this book, definately recommend people buying this. I'm actually going to buy the second one too when I'm ready.

Absolute Beginners. This title, I'm sure you are aware, refers to when you embark on your quest of guitar mastery. But, are you aware as I was that you'll still be an Absolute Beginner having completed all this book's exercises? The book deigns to teach the perceptive reader four chords and their fingering. Nothing else. Not a bean, old chap. Not even how to fret each string so your chord rings out majestically. Please, buy a different book, I beg any prospective rock god.

As a total novice at playing the guitar, (thanks Santa), I wanted something that actually was achievable. This is it. Starting with simple chords, each shown in clear photographs, it is laid out in a gentle but quick progression, that allows you to feel that you are achieving something. The enclosed CD includes complete backing tracks to play along with, not just 'the sound you should be making', and the tips and further referances are valid and informative. I would recommend this to any who wishes to take up the instrument. I don't think that anyone with a basic knowledge of playing will find the book that useful, and some may find the simplistic style a little too basic, but personally I've found this to be just what I need. Gary Moore look out!
