Rating Review

Customer Rating I found it confusing as the author seems to explain things too much instead of just stating what it is he's trying to say. I passed my grade 5 in November 04 but hardly used the book at all as it didn't help me.

Customer Rating I am just about to take my grade 5 theory exam. I have been learning from this book and have found it useful. It explains everything in great detail and gives you a good amount of work for each exercise. One bad point is that it explains everything in almost TOO much detail, and avoids the point. I recommend you buy this book if you want to be able to explain what you are doing as well as doing it. Me? Well, I just want to pass.

Customer Rating It was worth the money just for the extra practice and useful advice it gives you. However it does go into too much detail at times and there are no answers which would be a problem if you are teaching yourself Grade 5.
Anon.

Customer Rating An essential title for anyone taking Grade 5 theory. There are exercises so you can put your knowledge into practice, as well as a list of the musical terms you will be expected to know. It also includes useful tips that will gain you extra marks in the exam. However, I would not recommend using this book alone. When I took this exam there were certain things I wasn't prepared for. It is a very good idea to purchase Associated Board's Guide To Theory Part I, particularly if you haven't taken any other theory examinations. If you read this, you will have all the knowledge required for the exam. It might even be a useful idea to purchase past papers for practice, to get used to what the exam paper will be like. These are also available to purchase through the site. Good Luck!
