Rating Review

Customer Rating This item arrived promptly (which was a huge plus for me in the US). It was bounded satisfactorily (not great) and the parts were clearly shown and easy to read. It had the German text that Bach chose to use and a new English translation. This translation was satisfactory but not extremely scripturally accurate. It was chosen to make it (1) easier for the audience to understand (aka no King's James style or Peter Pears), and (2) easier to sing (round vowel sounds and so forth). The accompaniment was only for piano so that was a possible downside. The chorales are written in "hymn" format with altos and sopranos on top and tenors and basses in the bass clef. One plus was the section devoted to describing the most efficient practising and rehearsing schedule. It was a good score for a Bach enthusiast or for an amature church choir with limited resources. And its cheap price was also a plus in those respects. I would not recommend it for someone who wants to sing along at home with their own recording, because of its obscure libretto.
