Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating Mainly representing the Classical and Romantic eras, at first this collection of seventy simplified popular classics (or the major themes from them) seems to offer little to anyone who has obtained ABRSM Grade 5/6 or above. However, this is not so. Together the pieces showcase a broad spectrum of standard techniques, (pizzicato, glissando, trills and ornaments, harmonics, use of the mute, double / triple stopping), which whilst not tackled in depth could easily serve as a pleasant introduction to the beginner-intermediate player. At the same time, more advanced practictioners would enjoy the eleven pieces which make use of 5th position and upwards, and even the most simple pieces could be utilised as a melodic alternative to traditional position / bow control excercises at any level. Also, on a practical note, it is worth mentioning the joy of a spiral bound piano accompaniment. Overall: A good all-round reference point for most players, and probably at least one piece for most people's performance repetoire.

Customer Rating Disappointed. Lots of well known pieces but very simplyfied and probably alright for a grade 4 player but not challenging enough for anyone who wants to use more than third position.
