Installing Scorch and the new Avid viewer

What is the new Avid viewer?

The Avid viewer is a new technology that enables the viewing and printing of scores online without needing to install any additional software, such as Scorch. We have made it available alongside Scorch because of the difficulty of installing Scorch for some browsers and operating systems, and in particular Chrome versions 42+, which has disabled support for Scorch.

All scores that can be viewed and purchased on Musicroom.com are available in Scorch and Avid viewer versions in both preview mode on the product page and after purchase in Your Account. We welcome your feedback.

Install Scorch on Windows (Internet Explorer 11 or earlier)

Note: if you are using Windows 10, the standard browser Edge that is supplied with Windows will not allow you to install Scorch. If you want to use Scorch with Windows 10, please use Internet Explorer 11. This may be on your system already but if not can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com.

To begin please go to click on ‘Sign-in | Register’ (highlighted in red), or if you are already signed in click ‘Your Account’ (this will be in place of 'Sign-in | Register').

You are now signed into your account, to see your digital purchases click ‘Digital Products’.

Now choose the category of the item purchased. For example, if you have purchased Digital Sheet Music click ‘Digital Sheet Music’.

Your purchased music will be listed here, to view the music click on the song title.

You will now see the information concerning the installation of Scorch and the Avid viewer. If you need to install Scorch you should see a yellow and white bar appear (highlighted in red below) either at the top or bottom of your screen. Click ‘Install’ to continue.

You may see a couple of windows pop up with a status bar, let these run through.

On the digital sheet music page within Your Account, you will see various buttons on a toolbar above the music; these allow you to play back the music, transpose and print. A description for each button is shown below the music in the Scorch Player Key box. Please note that not all titles are interactive, but all can be printed.

Once you are happy with the music press the print button. Make sure you have enough ink, that the printer is switched on and paper is available.
