The pianist Art Tatum died more than fifty years ago, yet his amazing playing and recordings left an indelible mark on jazz and continue to astonish and inspire excellence for today's pianists in all genres of music.

The music on this CD has never been previously released. All the music reveals Tatum's total command of the keyboard and also his unequalled talent for improvisation and high-speed stride playing.

The laid-back professionalism and close compatibility of the musicians combine to make this a memorable live session.

The 14 tunes (73 min.) on this CD were recorded on the 20th & 22nd of November, 1950, in Hälsingborg and Malmö, Sweden, and besides some standard melodies, the CD includes several Parker original be-bop classics.

On this special project, Glenn Zottola is heard as a talented tenor saxophonist who draws on the sounds and styles of Lester Young and Coleman Hawkins, finding his own voice somewhere in between.

A classic Cajon sound at an affordable price, this instrument can provide the entire rhythm section for an acoustic group of musicians when a drum kit is too large or not subtle enough.
