Jaques Offenbach unfortunately did not live to see the final production of his exceptionally fine lyric opera Les Contes d'Hoffmann (or Tales Of Hoffman). This Barcarole occurs in the second episode (Act 4) of the opera, and takes place in the Grand Canal in venice. Giulietta, a famous beauty, is giving a party and signs of love with Nicklausse.
