Each song is provided with instrumental accompaniments based on the ostinato principle - short repeating melodic patterns for up to four classroom instruments. The ostinati can be learned easily by heart which enables players to concentrate on those aspects of music-making which are sometimes neglected such as dynamics, speed changes, careful listening to other parts and a general feeling for the music. The content is usefully divided into nursery rhymes, rounds, singing games, songs, hymns, carols and number songs.
