Turnarounds are short four-chord progressions often found at the end of tunes to set up and return to the beginning. They can also be found in other parts of tunes and even as the primary progression, such as in 'I Got Rhythm', as well as many other bebop, jazz, and blues tunes. Turnarounds can be the thorn in the side of guitar players because they often require playing separate scales for each chord. And at faster tempos, switching from one scale to another while improvising can be very challenging. This lesson is aimed at giving you usable ideas for improvising over turnarounds, specifically the two-bar version where each chord receives only two beats. You'll learn 'Master Melodies', a powerful yet simple tool that quickly arms you with dozens of eighth-note lines that 'sound' each of the four chords in the progrssion.
