Elbow formed in Bury, Lancashire, in 1990. Over the band's 18 year career they have released four studio albums, four EPs and ten top fifty singles in the UK. Their debut album, ‘Asleep in the Back’, released in 2001, was hailed as a seminal album of the new millennium, gaining them a Mercury Music Prize nomination and a BRIT Award nomination.

The Seldom Seen Kid is more commercial than previous albums and has brought the band the recognition they rightly deserve. As well as winning the Mercury Best Album prize, it debuted at No.5 in the album charts; the hit single ‘One Day Like This’ has been widely used in TV sports coverage including the Beijing Olympics and ‘Grounds For Divorce’ was featured on the trailer for the Coen Brothers film ‘Burn After Reading’.
