Joe Diorio's master series article for Guitar Player magazine, July 1987, titled Tapping the Right Side of the Brain brought creative results to many players. In this video Joe explains techniques for getting in touch with your creative and intuitive right side of the brain.
Composing and building solos with motifs along with many unique sounding patterns for the major and minor II, V, I progressions are demonstrated and explained. Joe also includes his system for expanding your chord vocabulary, arriving at more contemporary and exotic sounding chord changes. Right hand picking exercises are shown up close along with an explanation on sweep picking. Joe's inspiring solos and demonstrations will give you insight on playing jazz from one of teh world's greatest players.
From U.S. to Europe to South America Joe Diorio has conducted seminars all over the world. He has taught jazz improvising at the University of Miami and the University of Southern California (USC). Joe is one of the three founding instructors of the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood, CA and is still part of the faculty. His books & audio tapes for REH include Jazz Hotlines and Intervallic Designs. Joe has played and recorded with many of the greats in jazz including Ira Sullivan and Stan Getz. He has also recorded several solo albums in the U.S. and Europe.
