I have used this book and really don't like it. The left hand isn't introduced until half way through, though you could work from the beginning and the middle simultaneously. The book jumps from tunes of 1 or 2 lines to a tune of 4 lines, which also starts on an anacrusis and has awkward intervals for small hands - it's much more difficult than the material which follows it. The puzzles are way too hard for the age group for which it is intended and look very daunting - double pages with a lot on them. I much prefer Pauline Hall's Tunes for Ten Fingers as a starter for roughly the 5-7 year old average pupil. These are very logical in sequence and have more interesting material.

Whilst there is sound material in this book, it is old-fashioned in presentation and does not proceed in a logical way - e.g. the concept of sharps is introduced on page 14. On page 16 there is a duet in the key of G, but there are no sharps in the pupil's part, ditto the duet on page 26 and piece on page 31. The concepts of flats and naturals are introduced on page 24, but there are only two pieces containing flats in the whole book, in the repertoire section, which is mostly too dificult for this level anyway. None of my pupils would practise the number of daily exercises there are. You could use this book for supplementary work, but I wouldn't use it as a main tutor. I prefer the Piano Time series for clear, logical progress and realistic expectations of the average child (or adult).
