This carefully compiled collection stands out for its mixture of instantly-recognisable classical works and popular pieces from the world of Film and TV. The term Chillout is often lent to music of a mundane and insipid nature, but certainly, in this instance, this is by no means the case. The highlight for me is Satie’s Gymnopedie No.1 – a timeless classic, and a precursor to the modern day ambient genre.
An excellent muiscal that was loved by all the girls in our school who performed it. The performers ranged from the age of 3 to 6 years of age. This musical gave many opportunities for dance, either by using your own choice or that of the songs. Each different song had charcteristics from their country and had music intended for dance. The children enjoyed learning about the countries and especially enjoyed the Russian and Egyptian songs. The teachers book gave enough scope to extend the performance if you wished with the information given. All of the percussion parts fitted well and were performed capably by my year one girls. We thoroughly enjoyed working on this musical and look forward to many more.
