This is an unabridged republication of the first edition by C.F. Peters. This orchestral work, originally scored for Piano Duet, was composed during the 1890's when Grieg had taken up residency at Troldhaugen. This was a fertile period of composition and out of it was born Grieg's second nationalistic period- a fresh exploration of his country's rich treasury of folk music.
