Born in 1903, Percy Whitlock was one of the most outstanding organist-composers of his time. Following his death, Whitlock's music was largly undiscovered by organists, until a revival of interest in English music during the 1980's brought it to their attention. Now the full scope of Whitlock's output is beginning to be realised, and his music is recieving the attention and respect it deserves. The pieces in this anthology, dating from 1929 to 1945, represent the essence of Whitlock, and one cannot fail to be charmed by the melodiousness and good-natured sense of fun of this most musical of craftsmen. All twenty-ficve pieces here are set in their original form, for Organ manuals and pedals.
