Martin Berteau/ Giovanni Sammartini: Sonata In G For Cello And Piano
Beskrivelse
The Sonata In G For Cello And Piano was formerly attributed to Giovanni Battista Sammartini (c.1698-1775), however scholars now attribute this piece to the French cellist and composer Martin Berteau (1709-71), one of the founders of the French cello tradition. The sonata for cello in G major seamlessly balances the higher register with the fundamental sonority of the cello, elegantly demonstrating the natural sonic potential of the thumb position. The solo cello part is also included on a separate insert.
