Hot on the heels of the fantastic new and highly immersive classical music app, The Orchestra, REWORK_ is an interactive tour through the acclaimed American composer’s new remix album of the same name.
The app also includes a features called Glass Machine that allows users to create their own music inspired by Philip Glass’ earlier pieces.
Check out the video of the app in action below:
The idea for the REWORK_ album came together during a conversation between Philip Glass and his friend and new collaborator Beck, who would eventually also produce the release.
The pair recruited producer Hector Castillo, whose previous work includes David Bowie, Björk and Lou Reed, to help assemble and compile a select list of critically acclaimed artists to remix Glass’ work, including Tyondai Braxton, Amon Tobin, Cornelius, Dan Deacon, Johann Johannsson, Nosaj Thing, Memory Tapes, Silver Alert, Pantha du Prince, My Great Ghost, Peter Broderick, and Beck himself.
App developers Snibbe Studio, creators of Björk’s Biophilia app, created the REWORK_ app to complement the album of remixes, giving fans an interactive musical experience through responsive and mesmerising visulations, that correspond to each of the eleven remixes.
The REWORK_ app is available now on iTunes for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Click here to find out more!
