Musikmesse 2012: Fender announce new American Standard Series featuring custom shop tweaks and improvements

Following the discontinuation of their 2011 American Standard Series, Fender have announced a new range of guitars and basses at Musikmesse 2012 in Frankfurt.

This is far from just some yearly re-launch event however – a raft of tweaks, re-specs and improvements make this the company’s the first major overhaul of their headlining American Standard Series since 2008.

With new Fender Custom Shop pickups and some refining touches to their classic designs, the Fender class of 2012 features fresh new models of all the  company’s legendary, archetypal instruments – the Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass guitars. Left handed versions are also available for every new model in the range.

Check out Fender’s latest range in the tabs below:

The American Standard Telecaster has been upgraded with a new body contour for extra playing comfort and classic-sounding Twisted Tele neck and Broadcaster bridge pickups designed by the Fender Custom Shop team.

Stratocaster fans haven’t been left out either, with the latest edition of the American Standard Strat now sporting aged fixtures to go with its new, full-sounding Fender Custom Shop Fat ‘50s pickups.

A new hot-rodded, high-output version of the Stat has also been included in the range – the Stratocaster HSS – featuring an additional Diamondback humbucker on the bridge for guitarists who demand even more power in their players.

Grunt has also been upgraded on the new Precision Bass models, available as four or five string models. Now featuring an earthshaking Custom Shop ‘60s Precision Bass split single-coil pickup, this latest incarnation of Fender’s indestructible workhorse is more fearsome than ever.

The American Standard Jazz Bass has also enjoyed an upgrade, with more groove, snarl and growl than ever thanks to its new Custom Shop ‘60s Jazz Bass single-coil pickups. Five string and fretless versions are also available.
