The musicroom viral video roundup

This week we’ve got an incredible Voice from Australia, Earl Scruggs, heavy metal, and a cute kitten.

We’ll begin with a performance from the Australian version of The Voice, which has gained over half a million YouTube views in the last four days. Rachael Leacar is a legally blind young singer, who’s performance of Edith Piaf‘s classic La Vie En Rose blew away the judges and brought much of the audience to tears. More than an unusual palindromic name, Rachael is a future star.

Now for something completely different. As a young musician I myself played in a family band, but nothing like this. Stefan (aged 10) and his younger sisters Olga and Cornelia (8 and 5) give a spirited rendition of Rammstein‘s Sonne on Guitar, Keyboard and Drums, with Harp and Violin toward the end of the song.

Following the sad passing of Banjo legend Earl Scruggs last month, I had to include a classic example of his inimitable style which came to define 20th century bluegrass music.

Last but not least, what collection of YouTube clips is complete without at least one kitten? This particular sleepy little one named ‘Lady Peanut’ is enjoying listening to her owner Sarah Donner playing her song Treeline. She has plenty of free songs available on her own website if you enjoy it.
