This is a pretty serious violin. If this violin were a cake, it would be a baumkuchen. If this violin was a ship, it would be the the Streets of Monaco. Arguably some of the most famous, highly praised pieces of classic music were composed on this very violin.
So, if violins are your thing (and Mozart happens to also be your thing) then this will DEFINITELY be your thing.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart owned a number of violins, and this one was made by the Klotz family of Luthiers in southern Germany in the 1700 . Today, it lives in the Salzburg Mozarteum under lock and key.
Back in 2013, the violin in question got it’s very first trip to the states. For it’s NYC debut, Mozart’s fiddle was given a quick runaround by nice guy composer, violin virtuoso and Mozart enthusiast David Fulmer.
