The Sea was written in 1907 as the twelfth of a set of 24 Piano preludes (Op. 17). It is generally regarded as one of Palmgren's best Piano preludes, and makes a stunning addition to any recital.
En Route (Op. 9) was written in 1901 as a concert study for solo Piano. It is a great example of Palmgren’s miniature style, creating maximum effect from minimal effort, through still requiring great technical dexterity.
