Denmark Street, nicknamed 'Tin Pan Alley', has for many years been associated with the music industry, and lies off the east side of Charing Cross Road, two minutes south of Tottenham Court Road tube station, or five minutes north of Leicester Square station.
Argent's started life as a keyboard shop, founded by Rod Argent of sixties band The Zombies, but now, after two changes of ownership, occupies recently refitted premises next-door to the original site, and is primarily devoted to printed music of all kinds.
A huge number of books and DVDs for guitarists, bass players, drummers and keyboard players, covering all styles, is complemented by a full range of songbooks of bands and solo artists, and music from musicals and films. Many songbooks contain backing CDs, and there are jazz play-alongs for sax players, clarinettists, trumpeters, indeed almost any instrumentalist. There are sections devoted to jazz and blues piano, music theory textbooks, and books on singing technique. Also covered are the ukulele, accordion, harmonica, mandolin and banjo.
Classical musicians are also well catered for, with piano, organ, string, woodwind, brass, solo vocal and choral music, plus opera and orchestral scores. Exam publications are fully covered.
Music stands, metronomes, tuners, conductor's batons, manuscript paper and 'Finale' music notation software are also stocked.
The staff at Argent's are hugely experienced and used to dealing with enquiries for absolutely any type of music, so whether you need Harry Potter themes for violin, Bach for electric bass, a beginner's recorder method or the latest Musica Britannica volume, don't hesitate to contact us. Telephone orders placed before 3.45pm will be despatched the same day, and we are happy to post music overseas.
