A superb work for trumpet, strongly recommended for anyone. The 2nd movement is slow but still challenging and the first or third make superb concert pieces.

An absolutely outstanding piece and definately recommended for anyone doing grade 8 Trumpet. Two very distinct, contrasting sections with something to challenge every trumpeter. Once you've got this piece it wont leave your repertoire! Ideal for auditions and all other performances.

A sweet sort of piece, Peeters isn't the best known composer but this is a nice piece for recitals. The 2nd movement on its own is fun enough and a good piece to try vibrato out on. As far as playing it for Grade 5 goes, I wouldn't- it's much too hard. That said it's a piece you should definately look at when you've got the lip. The first movement is fun too.

Be under no illusions ladies and gents this piece is HARD! It's bad enough just to get through it but then there is all the deep, sorrowful meaning Hindemith conveys, which requires a deep understanding of the time Hindemith was writing and, some say, a fair bit of life experience of your own. Not a piece to be taken lightly and this is not a bog-standard, run-of-the-mill sonata. This is a test for any player, on a par with the Haydn for the skills you will need to play it well, but worth a look for anyone!

A book full of much simplified classic works for trumpet. Little challenge for intermediate-advanced players. In my humble opinion, anyone wanting to play (for example) the Haydn Concerto should play the original rather than the edited version in this book. The Concerto is a respected piece because of its difficulty level, and this merely undermines those who can play the real thing. Fine if anyone wants to play easy versions of pieces, but that somewhat defeats the object for me.

An amazing piece, two elegantly written, contrasting movements. The Wallace cadenza for me needs some slight adaptation for performance but this only adds to the personalization of the piece. The cadenza is by no means rubbish and much of it can be used. The piece is similar to the Haydn but played much less and I cannot see why. I performed this for my A level recital and loved it, still do, an awesome piece. I would willingly suggest this to any trumpet player. A diploma level piece that doesn't go above a top G#. That's in the cadenza as well if you don't want to play it, just edit it out! Buy it... all you trumpet players!
