Installing on Internet Explorer
- To begin the installation of Scorch please have www.Musicroom.com open in your web browser and click “Sign in” or if you are currently logged in click the “Your account” (top right hand corner of the site).
- After signing into your account, locate your digital sheet music by clicking the “Digital Products” button. On the “Digital Products” page click the title of the piece you wish to print. After a few seconds you will be presented with a yellow/white information bar shown below. Click anywhere on this bar and choose “Install ActiveX Control…” from the menu.
- When the Internet Explorer Security window appears click “Install”.
- Please wait whilst the installation files download.

- Once the download has completed the installation setup will begin, click “Next”.

- Agree to the Scorch License Agreement then click “Next”.

- Click “Next”.

- Click “Next” and the program will begin installing to your computer.

- Wait for the blue bar to complete.

- Now Scorch has been installed on your system close the installation wizard. This will take you back to the page in your account where the music should now be visible. If the music does not appear please push the “F5” button on your keyboard and it will display (please note you may have to scroll down to see the score).

- When you are happy with the appearance of the music, to print, click on the printer icon on the Scorch toolbar directly above the music. Please don't use your regular browser print icon or 'file'->'print', as both of these will print the webpage and will leave the music blank.

Installing on Firefox
- To begin the installation of Scorch please have www.Musicroom.com open in your web browser and click “Your Account” (top right hand corner of the site).
After signing into your account, locate your digital sheet music by clicking the “Digital Products” button. On the “Digital Products” page simply click the title of the piece you wish to print. After a few seconds you will be presented with a yellow/white information bar as shown below. Click the button to the right of this “Install Missing Plugins…”.
- A new window will appear, if the Scorch installation does not install automatically click “Manual Install”.
- This will take you to the Sibelius website. Choose Windows as your platform, enter your e-mail address then click the “Next” button.
- When the next page displays click the download link shown below.
- A new window will appear, click the “Save File” button.
- The installation file will begin downloading in your “Downloads” queue.
- When this has completed double click the file on the left hand side as shown below.
- A security window will appear on the screen, click “OK”.
- The installation setup of Scorch will now being, on the first page click “Next”.
- Then agree to the license and click “Next”.
- On the following page click “Next”.
- The installation setup is now complete, click “Next” and Scorch will be installed onto your computer.
- You can see the progress of the installation as the blue bar fills to the right.
- When completed you will be informed by the installation wizard.
- Now Scorch has been installed on your system close the installation wizard and restart your computer. Once your computer has booted please head back to the page in your account where the music should now be visible (follow previous instructions).

Installing on Google Chrome
Unfortunately Google Chrome does not support Sibelius Scorch, please see below for the system requirements to install the plug-in.
Windows: Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7 or later, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape 7 or later, 20MB hard disk space.
Mac OS X: 10.4 or later, Safari (Safari 4 recommended), Mozilla Firefox, Netscape 7 or later, 20MB hard disk space.
Scorch is a Universal Binary.
Downloading Backing Tracks
- To download and play our backing tracks you will need Windows Media Player 10 or later.
Once you have a compatible version of Windows Media Player on your computer login to “Your Account” and click the link “Backing Tracks”.
- Then click the “Download” button for the relevant track you require. If your browser has an active pop-up blocker you may need to wait for a yellow/white bar to appear along the top of the website. Once available click anywhere along this information bar and select “Download File…” from the sub menu.
- A new box will appear, click “Save” and store the file to a suitable location.

Once the download has completed locate the file and open in Windows Media Player.
Downloading a Video Lesson
- To begin the installation of Scorch please have www.Musicroom.com open in your web browser and click “Your Account” (top right hand corner of the site).
You will see ‘Your Account’ and six red boxes; click on ‘Digital Products’.
- The page will now change and you will see all of your digital purchases; you may need to scroll down to find the ‘Video Lessons’ tab. Once you have located the file to download click ‘High Quality Download’.
- After a few seconds the page will refresh and you will see a yellow bar at the top of the page.
- Click on the yellow bar and a submenu will appear, click on ‘Download File’.
- You will then see a ‘File Download’ box, click on ‘Save’.
- You will need to save the file, it is probably best to save to your ‘Desktop’, then click on ‘Save’.
- A download box will appear, let this run its course.
- Upon download completion click ‘Open’.
After a few seconds Windows Media Player will start and you should see your video.
Uninstall Scorch
- To uninstall Scorch from your computer please click the “Control Panel” shortcut from your start menu as shown below.
- When the Control Panel appears double click the “Add or Remove Programs” shortcut.
- From the list of programs highlight “Sibelius Scorch (ActiveX Only) and click the “Remove” button on the right.
- You will be asked again if you wish to remove Scorch, click “Yes”.
- A new window will appear showing the uninstall progress, when the green bar completes Scorch will have been successfully removed from your computer.
At this point we highly recommend you restart your computer to remove all traces of Scorch.
Installing on Safari/Firefox
- To install Scorch on your Mac system using Firefox/Safari as your web browser please visit the link provided below.
Download Scorch plug-in for Mac (English version)
When a new window appear select “Save File” and then click “OK”.

- This will then start downloading the installation file to your desktop. Once the download is complete navigate to the desktop and double click the file “SibeliusScorch525.dmg”

- A new window will appear and you need to double click the icon “Install Scorch”. The installation file will guide you through the rest of the setup, and when Scorch has been installed you will get this screen appear.

At this point you will need to click “Close” then reboot your system to complete the installation.
- To access your music please go to our website and click on the 'Your account' link in the top right-hand corner. If you then click on 'Digital sheet music' and sign in with your email address and password, you will be shown a list of titles you have purchased. Click on the link here for the song you want to print and the score will appear onscreen. You should transpose the music at this point if you would like it in a different key.
When you are happy with the appearance of the music, to print, click on the printer icon on the Scorch toolbar directly above the music. Please don't use your regular browser print icon or 'file'->'print', as both of these will just print the webpage and will leave the music blank.
Trying to Install on OS X 10.6.0 (Snow Leopard)
For Scorch to run when using a Mac you must be using Firefox version 5 or Safari 5; any later versions or other browser will not the application.
Please note that Scorch will not work with Lion (10.7), Safari 5.1 or Firefox 6.1
If you are running your Mac in 64-bit mode (e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or Intel Xeon processor), then your web browser will run as a 64-bit process by default. Scorch is a 32-bit browser plug-in and so cannot run inside a 64-bit browser.
To see if your Mac is running in 64bit mode click on the apple icon on the top left of your screen and click on ‘about my Mac’. If the operating system is 10.6 or higher then you will need to change how your Mac operates. To change the running mode please follow these instructions below.
- Quit Safari.
- Find the Applications folder on your Mac by clicking on the spotlight icon in the top right of your screen and entering the word “Application” into the search box as shown below. When the list of results appears please click the Application folder (shown below).
- When the Application window opens please locate the Safari icon and whilst holding the “ctrl” button on your keyboard click it. A new menu will appear, from this click “Get Info”.

- Switch on “Open in 32-bit mode” as shown below.

- Restart your MAC.
Downloading a Backing Track

If you are trying to download backing tracks from our site using a Mac system you will need to install the Windows Media Player plug-in for Mac’s Quicktime. To do this please follow the steps below: -
- Click here to visit the download page.
- When the page loads click the download button.
- In most Web browsers, the file you downloaded expands automatically. If it does not, on your hard disk, double-click the file you downloaded in step 2 to mount the disk image and extract the compressed “.mpkg” file.
- Click the .mpkg file to run the installer.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to finish installation.
- Restart your Mac.
- To access your backing track please click "Your Account" in the top right hand corner (at this point you may be asked to sign in as a returning customer)
- Click "Backing Tracks" on the left hand side.
You will then be taken to a page which displays all the backing tracks you have purchased. When you click on the 'download' button your download manager will save the file by default to your desktop.
